Nostalgic on my favorite teacher

I’m a teacher myself, but I wonder if I’m my student’s favorite… lol… :)

Anyway, of course a teacher also has a teacher and I’m sharing bits of my memory remembering and thanking those who had help me get to where I am today.

Hmmm…. Am I having some sort of memory loss? :( I can’t remember names of my elementary teachers ;) maybe because I had six moderators in six years in elementary, every year I change school because of my father’s work back then, or they were just too ‘mabait’ to be remembered. But I recalled there was someone – named Mrs. Jalandoni in Grade 1 that chased me to be vaccinated, you know vaccinations were done at school during my heyday. But I don’t know if she’s still alive because it been decades that I had not set foot in Parang, Maguindanao.

With high school – I spent my whole 4 years in a boarding school, you can’t leave the campus without parent’s and school dean’s permission. There was this old-maid girl’s dorm dean that we hated and loved the most, hated because she confiscated all our Nancy Drews slipped under our pillows, loved because she sing so well and told us crazy stories at the media-agua of our dorm after dinner at the cafeteria; she was Mrs. Bermudez, which this post gave me idea to locate her. Honest, I have no idea where in the world she is now. I hope she’s aging gracefully.

College, hmmmm… he was named Dr. Ontok, he was the meekest teacher I’ve ever met on this planet. Though, I don’t like his teaching styles it’s all obscured being the most in-demand teacher in the College of Arts and Sciences of that state U I’ve been before.

With post grad…. there was this priest-teacher that I love the most, his famous lines were ‘I’m a doctor without medicine and a father without children’. I think the all-learned of all the priests that have ever walked on Earth, gosh, he would say ‘mark my words’ if he’d read this, but I swear he was the coolest. I often crack joke telling him … ‘why don’t you impregnate a woman and raise a child so your genius genomes wouldn’t put to waste’ … he’ll just smile and say… ‘I haven’t had bumped into that woman yet!’ I wonder now if he has bumped on that someone … sorry this is against the order!

You know, sometimes good teachers, I mean those who stick to the same old dusty book, comply lesson plans religiously day-in-day-out, I tell yah peeps … they’re easily forgotten, you needed something|someone to remind you of them.

But those teachers who share you wild and out of this world, not the typical, influential ideas, teachers who would let you realize you’re in a black hole of your life and you needed to get through it, teachers who get out of their way to share the bittersweetness of life  … I bet my whole life class …. they would forever be a teacher of your lifetime.

Sharing this post too for Rose’s Nostalgia.
